Spotlight Asia - Private equity fund considering India
Kroll recently advised a private equity fund that was considering acquiring a controlling stake in a company in India. The promoter of this company is considered very close to the chief minister of the state in which the company primarily operates. Strong political connections are advantageous for businesses in India and most companies cannot function without developing good networks with local and regional politicians. Kroll helped the client understand the nature of the target company’s political connections, specifically if the chief minister had an indirect stake in the target company and if the company would continue to win projects if a new state government came into power.
