Profile: David Riker

David Riker is Managing Director, Third Party Screening at Kroll Risk & Compliance Solutions.  Since joining Kroll in June 2009, David has focused on developing technology and research processes that identify and manage risks in commercial relationships.

Prior to joining Kroll, David was CEO of Storm Exchange, Inc., a venture-backed company that helped corporations hedge their weather-related exposures with counterparties via an online exchange. Prior to Storm, he was Vice President of Product Development for Marsh, Inc, where he focused on development of third party screening solutions, and Director, Strategic Development for Marsh & McLennan Companies supporting mergers and acquisitions. Prior to MMC, David was Chief Technology Strategist for The St. Paul Companies, where he focused on the development of underwriting strategy and systems for managing commercial risks. In 1999, he founded eCoverage, a venture-backed company that was the first to price, sell, and service auto insurance exclusively over the Internet.

Professional Experience

• Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: David designed Kroll’s data management technology to meet the procedural compliance needs of a client facing deferred prosecution agreement under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.   Since that time, he has led implementation of the platform, best practice compliance processes and third-party screening for Kroll, helping a multitude of clients, that include some of the world’s largest companies, to mitigate the risk of partners that are paying bribes or receiving kickbacks.
• Enterprise Risk Management: A multinational oil exploration company with a broad range of risk management needs engaged the services of David’s team to provide solutions on third party screening, regulatory compliance, transactional due diligence for mergers & acquisitions, vendor management and competitive intelligence.
• Agent Screening: Working with one of the world’s largest heavy machinery manufacturers, David integrated manual processes involved in the management of agent on-boarding disclosures into a highly efficient workflow that leverages Kroll’s technology platform, multilingual research capabilities as well as Kroll investigators worldwide.
• Vendor Management: Many different types of companies, from healthcare providers to sporting stadiums, leverage David’s team and technology to screen vendors for bankruptcy, liens, judgments, litigation, illicit activities, inclusion on watch lists and other negative media that could create liability and impact the sustainability of services and supply.
