Case Study: Texas A&M University
Kroll was engaged to conduct a physical security assessment and develop a physical security master plan for Texas A&M University’s main and Riverside campuses located within and around College Station, TX. Kroll’s consulting responsibilities included conducting an inspection and evaluation of the security posture for the two campuses through the following: an inspection and evaluation of existing security measures including the campus perimeters, parking and common areas, a broad sample of varying types of facilities representative of the overall campuses; an inspection of exterior illumination; interviews with a variety of personnel to discuss past security incidents, security concerns and the overall security climate for the campuses; and an evaluation of the currently installed mechanical and electronic security systems in use. Kroll then developed a comprehensive security assessment report detailing findings and recommendations for campus improvements as. Subsequently, Kroll prepared a campus-wide physical security master plan to assist the university with prioritizing, estimating the costs of, and implementing the mitigation measures prepared for the campuses.
Case Study: City of Houston
Kroll was hired by the government of the City of Houston to perform assessments for 15 city facilities and develop recommendations for countermeasure upgrades to improve overall building security and potentially reduce manpower costs through more efficient use of technology. The scope of this project included implementation of a threat and vulnerability assessment to determine a reasonable level of security and structural reinforcement needed to protect (deter, detect, and shield) against terrorist attacks, both external and internal, on specified City of Houston facilities as well as decrease the potential impact of crime. As part of this process, a blast vulnerability study was incorporated into a Security Assessment Report prepared for each facility along with findings and recommendations designed to mitigate identified vulnerabilities and ensure consistency with industry best practices.
